Transcript – July 24, 2015: Part 1 – Emerging Trends

#lrnchat is an online chat over the social messaging service Twitter. It is held on Thursdays at 8:30-9:30pm ET/5:30-6:30pm PT. Participants are people interested in the topic of learning from one another and who want to discuss how to help other people learn in formal, informal, social and mobile ways. We aim to steer clear of topics that are more “training department” oriented and focus on how people learn, what they learn, and what we’re learning.  If you an idea for a topic that you would like to suggest for #lrnchat, please feel free to reach out to any of the Chat Hosts.

This Week’s Questions

  • What are the most significant trends related to your work?
  • Which trends do feel will most impact the way we look at learning?
  • What trends do you see, positive or negative, related to the way organizational learning programs are developed?
  • How do you determine when to invest in a trend? What factors shape that decision?
  • How can you tell when an emerging trend has gone mainstream? What signs point to this shift?
  • There are many ways to keep your finger on the pulse of your industry. How do you learn about new trends?
  • What is something that you learned tonight or will try?
