Transcript – May 14, 2015: How does your learning change across situations?

#lrnchat is an online chat over the social messaging service Twitter. It is held on Thursdays at 8:30-9:30pm ET/5:30-6:30pm PT.

Participants are people interested in the topic of learning from one another and who want to discuss how to help other people learn in formal, informal, social and mobile ways. We aim to steer clear of topics that are more “training department” oriented and focus on how people learn, what they learn, and what we’re learning.  If you an idea for a topic that you would like to suggest for #lrnchat, please feel free to reach out to any of the Chat Hosts.

This Week’s Chat Questions

  • When you’re learning something new, what sort of resources do you use? How do you learn about a completely new topic?
  • How do your efforts to learn something change once you have a foundational base of knowledge?
  • How do you learn on-the-job or in the task? What does that look like?
  • Much learning happens when we encounter exceptions to the norm. What resources help you learn during problem-solving?
  • When situations change, existing habits and skills may become outdated. How do you break habits so you can apply new skills?
  • See prereading on Apply- Solve- Change. How do you get new learning into your workflow?
  • What did you learn tonight?
